In The Pandemic- Closing Schools Is Not An Option-Give Priority To Cleaning And Sanitizing
In this pandemic, schools are one of the main educational institutions which were the most affected by the virus. Mainly because the students in schools are younger due to which they are unable to follow all the SOP’s. So the first action which government thinks of taking against the coronavirus is that they close the schools. But closing schools is not the solution, proper measurements should be taken which can help in the prevention of the virus.
Prioritize school cleaning:
If you want the schools to remain open then priority should be given to the school cleaning. Most children are catching the virus from school surfaces and by interaction with each other. So if we keep a regular check and balance on cleaning then we have a chance of controlling the spread of this virus.
Cleaning every nook and corner of the school and then its maintenance is difficult but if you follow some of the methods which I am mentioning below then the chances are that you can effectively keep the school premises clean.
· Sanitize all the surfaces which are frequently touched by the students:
If you want to control the spread of covid-19 within the school premises, then constantly sanitizing the surfaces would be a good thing to do. Children tend to touch each and everything which they walk past. This is the major and the most common problem which contributes greatly to the spread of the virus.
Using cleaning products that have at least 70% of alcohol in them would do the job of killing all the virus germs. Make sure the cleaning product that you are using is a disinfectant, because if not, then it won’t do much of a job.

· Educate students on following the SOP’s:
No matter how much you try to keep the school clean and maintain social distancing amongst the students, if they are not educated about the virus then it won’t make a great difference. The first thing which you should do as a responsible teacher is that you educate your students on what are SOP’s and how they can follow it. Telling them about wearing a mask, sanitizing the hands, and not touching each and everything can prove to be somewhat beneficial.
· Make 2 groups of students within the classroom:
Dividing the students of the same class into 2 groups and assigning different days to them on which they have to come to school is also very beneficial. For instance, if you have 30 students in one class then making 2 groups, each group comprising of 15 students would do the job. Then you can call these groups on alternate days. In this way, children would be able to maintain the social distancing and keep you and themselves safe from the virus.
Though, school cleaning should be prioritized with or without the pandemic. But since we have been living in this pandemic for the past two years hence, hygiene practices should be strictly followed. We cannot leave any room for mistakes. Any blunder can lead to an increase in cases and we cannot afford that at this point.
