Skala Beach

Also, there’s a water sports centre on the beach. You have the opportunity to ride a boat with a glass bottom to observe the underwater world. If you get hungry, head to the bar in the central part of the beach. In the village itself, you will find souvenir shops, taverns, restaurants, and pubs.

Xi Beach

As the most amazing beach in all of the Ionian Islands, Xi Beach got its name from the bay in the shape of the Greek letter X. The total length of the beach is 3 miles and the width is almost 50 meters. One large road leads to it, which then diverges into many small branches in front of the coast. 

Xi Beach is located 7 miles from Lixouri, making it easy to reach by car. Those who don’t want to spend a lot of time on the way to the beach can stay at one of the many nearby hotels and villas. 

When going to Xi Beach, be sure to take your camera with you, because you will definitely want to capture the uniquely bright, rich, red and yellow sand, and white clay rocks. Makris Gialos Beach 

Located in Argostolion, Kefalonian beach Makris Gialos is one of the most popular destinations on the island. This beach is ideal to satisfy any travel desires, especially those related to sports.

Lepeda Beach is just 5 miles away from Lixouri, so you will need more than 15 minutes to get there by hire car. Sounds incredible, but this 100-meters-long beach features red sand and similar shades of water. Plus, it offers beautiful views of Argostolion Bay and Pharos. 

In the very centre of the beach, there’s a mountain range. And if you walk a little further, you’ll see the monastery and the Agia Paraskevi Cave. According to legend, the water flowing down from the walls of the cave has a healing effect and helps against eye diseases. 

There’s only one bar on the beach. In addition to food and drinks, it offers to hire umbrellas and sun loungers. If you want something a little more sophisticated in terms of dining, look for several restaurants along the road leading to Lixouri.

Lourdas Beach 

Lourdas is a magnificent beach on the south side of Kefalonia Island. Located near the village of the same name, it’s easy to find with a hire car. This narrow strip of sand perfectly hides in the middle of huge mountains with lush green vegetation and crystal waterfalls. 

Among other similar beaches, Lourdas stands out for its incredibly clean water and well-developed infrastructure. Small cafes with wonderful views and private hotels with all modern conveniences are always at your service.  What’s more, dense vegetation of olive trees, pines, and cypresses surround the beach, making it even nicer.

Myrtos Beach

Myrtos rightfully occupies the top lines of European beach ratings. Firstly, it’s located in an ecologically clean area with almost untouched nature. Secondly, its impressive landscapes literally inspire you to pick up a brush and realize your creative impulses. 

A chain of snow-white cliffs combined with a white coastline and the mysterious color-changing waters will definitely not leave you indifferent.

Yes, white pebbles mixed with white fine sand are the hallmark of the beach, but your feet sink slightly while walking along it. It’s very convenient to lie on such a sand-and-pebble mixture. Considering that Myrtos is a wild beach with no sun loungers, the soft bottom will really come in handy.

Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy swimming in the sea on this beach. Large pebbles cover the seabed in this area, thus making entering the water a little painful. Although if you just want to enjoy the sea breeze, have a picnic on the seashore, or take colorful photos – why not? Myrtos will be a great place for this.
