3 years ago, we have made an excellent tour to Cambodia with Sophal from Cambodia Taxi Driver.
We still remember this incredible experience of 12 days. We spent a great time with our private driver Sophal especially by discovering the amazing temples of Angkor in Siem Ream.

Our hotels
Cambodia Taxi driver have booked for us also the hotels. It was a perfect mix of comfort and luxury accommodations.
In Phnom Penh we had an excellent hotel The Plantation with great location we appreciated a lot. Our room was very comfortable and we had a nice garden with swimming pool. It was perfect.
In Battambang we had a simple but clean and comfortable room in Sangker Villa, located in a small quiet street. The owner was very kind as well. A pleasant stay.
In Siem Reap we were accommodated in Golden Template Retreat. Here we stayed 4 nights and it was important to have a comfortable hotel. Everything was great, we had a spacious room and the staff of the hotel was very friendly.
Our hotel in Kampong Thom was the Sambor Village. Here also it was a simple hotel but clean. It is more than enough for a stopover between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. We made this stop especially to discover the temple of Sambor Prey Kuk.
In Kep, we enjoyed a lot the Raingsey Bungalow. Nice staff, very comfortable bungalows in a very pleasant atmosphere.
We reached our hotel in Koh Rong Samloem by a speedboat. The One Resort was for us one of the best hotels. We enjoyed a lot the local beach as well as the hotel’s swimming pool. Our bungalow was very nice and comfortable.
Top things not to miss in Cambodia
Here are some places we recommend you to explore during your Cambodia travel.
Don’t miss to explore the floating villages of Kampong Chhnang located on the way from Battambang to Phnom Penh. A great opportunity to discover the local lifestyle.
Make a half day tour from Kep to discover the Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island). Here you can taste fresh seefood and just relax a bit on the beach. Especially if you don’t plan a retreat on an island, it’s certainly good to make this visit.
Explore the Tuol Sleng museum of genocide. It’s important to better understand the history of Cambodia in 1970th.
And, of course, the Angkor Temples in Siem Reap. If you stay there longer than 4 days you will have the time to discover all the hidden gems. Otherwise, if you are short in time, don’t miss Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prom and Banteay Srei.
If we have the chance to travel to Cambodia once more, our driver will be certainly Sophal and we will discover the Est part of the country including the regions of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri by crossing the city of Kratie famous for its dolphins d’Irrawaddy.
