What is Laser Waterlase?
Laser Waterlase
The waterlase MD is a technique used by the Dental Medical Center to perform less invasive treatments and minimize patient discomfort. Find it out!
Waterlase
The waterlase MD is an innovative system using ErCr.:YSGG laser energized water particles. The resulting hydrokinetic energy carefully and with great precision eliminates any human tissue, including tooth enamel (the hardest substance in the body), bone tissue, and soft tissue (gums), without producing heat and painlessly. The waterlase MD thus reduces the need for anesthesia and allows for less invasive treatments, preserving more excellent tooth structures. It reduces patient anxiety, minimizes consultation discomfort and postoperative trauma.
What treatments can be performed with waterlase?
- Removal of cavities;
- Preparation of the cavity for restoration;
- Elimination of dentin sensitivity;
- Endodontics (devitalizations);
- Gingival contour;
- Frenectomies;
- Treatment of periodontitis (gum disease);
- Healing of ulcers (thrush) and herpes;
- Surgeries with minimal bleeding;
- Reduces need for anesthesia in various dental treatments;
- Others.
Diode laser
This laser is a surgical device used for soft tissue and tooth whitening procedures. It uses the diode as a laser energy source and an optical fiber for transmission.
It is indicated for minor gum surgery, frenectomy, removal of fibroids, dentin sensitivity, ulcer treatment, tooth whitening, and bio-stimulation.
Laser Applications
Caries cavity preparation
- Eliminates tooth decay while conserving as much healthy tissue as possible, eliminating or minimizing the use of anesthesia.
- Gingiva procedures Gingival remodeling/gingivoplasty-aesthetics can remodel the smile at the gingival level through a simple laser intervention.
- Gingivectomies – can be used to remove overgrown gums.
- Cleaning and disinfection – is effective in eliminating infected gingival and peri-gingival tissues.
- Pigment removal
- Other microsurgeries
Bone procedures
Clinical crown lengthening – in aesthetics, to make crowns, it may be necessary to remove bone around the teeth to become longer and thus result in treatment, both aesthetically and functionally.
Treatments for ulcers and herpes
Waterlase cauterizes the surface of the lesion, promoting its healing.
Laser in Pediatric Dentistry
- With children, dental treatment must be adequate, short-term, and as traumatic as possible. With Waterlase, we can minimize the need for anesthesia and avoid vibration and noise produced by the mouth.
-
- Frenectomy (Laser is used to repositioning the labial or lingual frenulum without bleeding, without stitches, and with minimal discomfort.)
- Fissure Sealing
- Removal of caries;
- Coronary exposure of teeth without eruption;
- Pulp therapy (pulpotomy);
- Pain relief in orthodontic treatment;
- Others
Tooth Whitening
- The laser activates hydrogen peroxide allowing for better and faster whitening results.
Biostimulation
- After surgery, the laser is focused at low power on the surgical area for a few minutes. This procedure promotes healing and improves the postoperative period.
Laser Waterlase FAQ
With laser treatments, anesthesia is no longer necessary?
In specific dental procedures, yes, because when replacing the drill, the overheating of the tooth, responsible for the pain, is avoided. It seals the dentinal tubules, desensitizing the tooth. In more advanced or surgical caries, topical or infiltrative anesthesia is still required.
Is treatment for dentin sensitivity definitive?
No. As the laser treatment is non-invasive, it causes a non-definitive alternation in the tubular structure of the tooth, which becomes impermeable to stimuli until the dentinal tubules are renewed. However, it is durable, and its innocuousness makes it the first choice treatment.
Is laser not harmful to health?
No. Nowadays, laser in Medicine is booming, replacing conventional techniques in the most diverse areas, providing the patient with greater treatment convenience in less time. The laser must be handled by specialized medical personnel. Eye protection is the most excellent care to be taken when using it.
